Three-dimensional images allow you to recognize any pathology. Time: 3 to 25 minutes (with contrast) Preliminary preparation: needed The presence of contraindications: no Restrictions: allergic reaction to contrast, severe diabetes mellitus, cardiac, renal failure, young children, pregnancy, weight over 150 kg Preparation of the conclusion: 30-60 minutes. The price of a full CT scan in Kiev varies from 1900 UAH to 4400 UAH, depending on the number of departments.

How is the CT scan of the spine

The patient is laid on his back on a movable table of the tomograph. He is left alone in the office. Communication with the doctor occurs through the selector. It is necessary to observe complete immobility. The doctor from time to time asks to roll over on his stomach, side, hold his breath. With a table, it moves, the frame of the tomograph rotates, scanning the studied parts of the spine, and transmitting data from the sensors to the computer. Layered pictures are displayed on the screen. The scanning procedure is painless and comfortable.

The introduction of a contrast medium (bolus)

For more detailed data on the vessels and arteries of the spine and the establishment of an accurate diagnosis, the attending physician can prescribe a study using a contrast medium. A safe iodine-containing drug is administered intravenously by an anesthetist.

Indications for bolus administration:

Identification of neoplasms of the spine.

Contraindications for the introduction of contrast

The bolus is contraindicated in people who are allergic to iodine, severe asthma and diabetes, kidney and liver failure, as well as pregnant and lactating mothers.
